There are a host of wildlife organizations passionately working today to study and protect wildlife and wild places in Peru. We have listed a few here and are working on expanding the list. If you know of any that are not listed here, please .

  • ACA - Amazon Conservation Association
    To conserve the biological diversity of the southwest Amazon Basin via a network of state, community, and private lands managed for conservation and sustainable resource use.
  • ACEER - Amazon Center for Environmental Education and Research
    Their mission is to promote conservation of the Peruvian Amazon by initiating environmental education programs, supporting basic and applied research, and protecting unique tracts of land.
  • Andean Ecosystem Association (Asociacion Ecosistemas Andinos)
    Working on the conservation of high Andean ecosystems.
  • APECA - Association Promoting Education and Conservation in Amazonia
    Promotion of Education and Conservation in the Peruvian Amazon rain forest.
  • Center for Tropical Conservation
    It is an organization located at Duke University in Durham, NC, seeking to address the global environmental crisis, particularly as it affects the developing countries of the tropics, through a tripartite program of research, training and communication.
  • Cocha Cashu Biological Station

  • Conservation International, Peru

  • Fauna Forever Tambopata
    A long-term wildlife and ecotourism monitoring project based in and around the Tambopata National Reserve and Bahuaja Sonene National Park.
  • Museum of Natural History of the University San Marcos

  • The Nature Conservancy in Peru
    The Nature Conservancy has been working in Peru since 1983. Current project sites include the Central Selva Protection Area, Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, and the Sierra del Divisor Protection Area.
  • PROFONANPE - National Fund for Natural Areas Protected by the State
    It's mission is to provide stable long-term financing for the conservation of Peru's ' biological diversity through the raising, administration, and channelling of financial resources for the management of the Protected Areas and their buffer zones.
  • Project Amazonas
    Help provide the people of the Peruvian Amazon with adequate modern health care and health education, and to give them the tools to sustainably use and conserve the natural environment of the Amazon rainforest.
  • ProNaturaleza - Peruvian Foundation for Nature Conservation -
    It is a non-profit organization, dedicated to the conservation of the environment in Peru, by implementing sustainable development projects and do promote a culture of environmental awareness.
  • Rainforest Conservation Fund
    Dedicated to preserving the world's tropical forests. The main project is the Reserva Comunal Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo (RCTT) in the Department of Loreto.
  • Taricaya Research Centre - Projects Abroad Peru
    Conservation centre with opportunties for volunteers to live and work there. It is located near Puerto Maldonado.
